Querying port intelligence and vessels through Claude and ChatGPT
Connect Argonautics to Claude or ChatGPT via MCP to query port congestion, vessel states, and open tonnage directly in your workflow.
We have launched an MCP connector that links our port intelligence directly to Claude and ChatGPT. This enables brokers, charterers, and port agents to query our terrestrial AIS signals using plain text prompts inside their desktop or web assistants.
Direct access to port figures within your assistant
Checking port turnaround, anchor waits, or open tonnage often requires switching between chartering models, communication channels, and web dashboards. The Model Context Protocol (MCP) connector brings our position data into the assistant you already have open, allowing you to ask questions about ship movements alongside your own notes or voyage calculations.
The assistant uses our live figures to answer, giving you turnaround medians, anchorage queues, and vessel states without leaving your conversational workspace.
How the connector queries our position engine
When you ask a question in Claude or ChatGPT, the connector sends the request to our API, queries the relevant port or vessel tables, and returns structured data for the model to summarise. All answers reflect our standard calculation rules: position reports come from coastal receivers for cargo ships and tankers, while turnaround and waiting medians exclude non-calling traffic and uncompleted stays.
Because draught figures and voyage destinations depend on crew input, any figures concerning cargo quantities or open tonnage remain estimates and include confidence context. The connector returns the figures permitted by your account tier.
Setting up the connection
The connector works across all subscription tiers, from Free to Enterprise, with the returned data matching your plan's coverage and refresh interval. Setup takes only a few steps inside your AI client and our settings page.
- Go to argonautics.app/mcp to view the connection endpoint and setup instructions.
- Add the Argonautics connector to Claude or ChatGPT as an MCP tool.
- Sign in with your Argonautics credentials to authorise access.
- Manage or revoke active sessions at any time under Settings > Connected Apps.
Plan coverage and query limits
Free accounts can query Rotterdam with daily snapshots and the last 7 days of history. Pro subscribers (€149 a month) can query all 90 covered ports worldwide with hourly data refreshes, 90 days of history, baselines, vessel search, and open tonnage lists.
Team and Enterprise accounts provide longer historical archives and faster refresh rates up to every 15 minutes. Coverage currently spans 90 major ports across Northern Europe, the Mediterranean, the Americas, Africa, Asia, and Oceania, excluding China, Korea, the Gulf, and India.
